  • NOT A GOOD CHOICE - 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

I PURCHASED A NEW MITSUBISHI MONTERO AND TRUST ME, IT IS THE WORST CAR EVER! I AM 40 YEARS OLD SO I KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A CAR, AND THIS ONE IS NOT WORTH IT! 1) ITS DRIVE MAKES YOU FEEL UNCOMFTORABLE BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE IT IS ALWAYS GOING TO TIP OVER. 2) THIS CAR WAS RATED MOST IN THE US TO BE TIPPED OVER. I FOUND THIS OUT AFTER I PURCHAES MY NEW MONTERO SPORT. DO NOT GET THIS CAR, YOUR LIFE WILL BE RUINED BY THE BAD CHOICE IF YOU DO!

The handeling is very poor on dry roads and wet roads. I feel very unsafe in this vehicle. The Wheel width is to naoorw verses the height of the vehicle.

I hate this car. I have had it in the shop every three months since I bought it for everything from warped brake rotors, dead batteries, bad alternator, transmission leaks, torque converter rumble, NEW TRANSMISSION AT 44,000, broken seat heaters, broken thermostat, you name it. The interior is not comfortable and the seats are bolted on with blatantly visible hardware, and the console space is so poorly designed that you cannot have a drink in the cup holder and change the radio at the same time. The cargo compartments under the floor in the back are about all I can say good about this car. I traded up and OUT of Mitsubishi.

Looks great but thats about it. Needs a larger engine. A slight fish-tail with wind gust. Cant spend that kind of money for this junk.

  • Why dont they fix the leak - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
    By -

Our Montero Sport has been a money pit, it has had problems with oil leaks, my mechanic called Mitsubishi who said they have been making the 3.0 ltr. engine for 10 years and this has always been a problem. If they know this, why dont they fix it? The seats will kill you on a long trip, they are extremely uncomfortable. The turning radius is terrible, just to park in a spot at the mall you have to pull in, back up, pull in, back up. I will never own another Mitsubishi

  • Slightly better than a bus pass - 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

The worst experience I had with this truck was changing a flat tire. The truck cames with wheel locks that strip after being tightened with a torque wrench. Had to get the thing towed in to the dealer to have the tire changed. Th dealer stated that is one of their major complaints. After being standed on the highway on Mothers day, paying almost $200.00 in towing fees, replacing the lug nuts and losing a days pay I would rather have a bus pass. Wrote Mitsubishi and got the brush off. This is my first Mitsubishi and my last unless all other auto makers go out of busines.

  • UNCOMFORTABLE!! - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
    By -

Worst vehicle that I have ever owned!! Runs good, but VERY UNCOMFORTABLE to drive!! Arm rest too short, seat too low, window ledge for your left arm too narrow, A/C is undersized, takes forever to get cool, having electricial problems with the interior lights and the lights when you press the keyless entry system. No tape deck, fake roof rack, and no leg room in the back seats when the front seats are all the way back, which they have to be unless you were in the Wizard of Oz as a little person. Lousy resale also - I have 63000 mi. and they only want to give me $8500.00 for it and other than the miles there is nothing wrong with it.

  • Bad buy - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Its a pretty SUV, but thats about it. I had problems with the disc brakes and the computer went out within the first 12,000 miles. It lags between second and third gear. Resale value depreciates faster than I can make the payments. Ill never buy another Mitshubishi automobile.

  • Tiny, Cheap interior and Overpriced - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
    By -

Tilt wheel may work for some, Im 64" and its an effort to get past it. The outside mirrors are VERY narrow. The center brake light was tacked on for US versions on the upper part of the rear window...blocking the most important part of rear viewing. The engine crawls, vibrates and screams on its way up to speed. The stereos mounted so low that I fumbled with the controls instead of taking my eyes off the road long enough to actually look at the display. The interior materials were fine, for a $8,000 Hundai. VERY CHEAP looking and feeling. Poor seating, no lateral support. Pass on this one and dont look back, sport.
